Our type of practice allows for more time to spend with you. Even those who are in good general health and only see a doctor on occasion may join for various reasons (some busy people want a convenient way to access their doctor when their time is limited). Nationwide, the overwhelming majority of patients in a concierge practice are pleased with their care.
The fee covers services that are not covered by insurance and Medicare. Many have argued over the years that additional time with patients is poorly covered by existing insurers, hence the move to a higher volume of patients seen.
The fee does not cover insurance-required copays, deductibles, office visits, lab and radiology testing, or any other services your insurer or Medicare pays for.

The majority of our patients do carry their health insurance to cover their medical care expenses. This practice is not a substitute for health insurance coverage of prescription medications, emergency care, hospitalizations, surgery, and other medical items. Some of our patients do elect to pay for these issues as they arise out of pocket.
In this form of membership-medicine, the primary insurance is still billed as in a traditional practice. Your insurance will continue to function as it currently does. You will be able to use your insurance as you do now. Please see your insurance information for the details regarding your personal plan.
Traditional visits are scheduled Monday through Friday, though availability via text, email, or phone call for more emergent issues extends well beyond traditional hours to help meet your needs. Depending on the issue, weekend office hours can be made available, as can house calls on a case-by-case assessment. Same-day or next-day appointments will be available, with coordination for minimal wait times.
The fee can be paid monthly, quarterly, or annually via cash, check card, or recurring credit card.
Yes, a pro-rated amount of the fee may be refunded based on the date of cancellation. A 30-day cancellation notice is required.
In the event of admission to the hospital, this is managed by the hospitalist team, surgeon, and other specialists (depending on the need for admission).
Since I began practicing medicine in San Angelo, I have not made rounds at the hospital at any other time.
